How does the use of Project Based Learning (PBL) as a teaching method enhance students’

global competencies?

At Town School for Boys, like many educational institutions, teachers are asked to implement new pedagogies. With all the current trending initiatives this can be overwhelming.  Over the course of the last few years as both a classroom teacher and member of the Committee on Teaching and Learning, I have had the opportunity to really immerse myself in the initiatives of global education and project based learning in my classroom and beyond.  I thought this project could be the perfect opportunity to reflect on what I have discovered through these initiatives, how I can connect the two and what benefit it might be to our students.

Students today need to be aware of the complexities of the world which they live in and need to be equipped with the skills in which to help solve problems that we can't possibly even dream of. Through these two initiatives, I have transformed my teaching practice to best offer my students an opportunity to grow into responsible global citizens.

Join me on this site to learn and discover what project based learning is, what global competence means, and how the two can be woven together to create dynamic curriculum for our students.
